360 or PS3 as main? hard decision.

I cannot make a final decision on what to prioritise for the collection, I have both and want to kind of focus on one to buy the majority of games on, whilst just buying the exclusives on the other.

heres why I’m kind of stuck in my decision currently…

PS3 discs are Blu Ray, they are far easier to find in good condition, and rarely ever scratch or have issues. Im a trophy whore, I like trophies and platinums, so I’m currently leaning more towards PS3.

360 uses DVD, and from my experience the discs are a more prone to scratching, making buying used a bit more difficult. They can also be used for backwards compatibility on Xbox One / Series X If I ever wanted to pick one up in the future. Also the performance is said to be more favourable on the 360.

How do you all go about this? Anything Im missing?

I recently got into a discussion with my friends about game collecting and it’s really made me think more about why we all collect, and how it started.

As a kid, collecting wasn’t something that ever crossed my mind. I was gifted almost everything, I did save money to buy some stuff myself, but for the most part It was all gifted. I would always trade stuff In to get new games, as that’s the only way I could get my hands on something new without waiting for so long.

The trading in was actually quite a common thing for most of us to do, at least here In the UK, I cannot quite understand why collecting is so romanticised when we never really had collections growing up. It was super uncommon for any of us to keep all of our games or consoles, almost everything would get traded In to fund the next new game / console.

A lot of the collecting craze seems to be more recent, as we got older, why do we do It? It seems socials like reddit and YouTube heavily influence collecting when it was really never something we cared about anyway.
