Street Art in less affluent areas
I'm curious as to if there are organisations in Edinburgh/Scotland that create art (murals, etc) in areas similar to Sighthill, Niddrie, etc.
I'm struck by the lack of art in these areas (tbf I only drive through them and don't visit often; maybe there is some somewhere) and feel passionate that art should be available/ encouraged for all. Some areas seem so bland and covered in rubbish tags and graffiti, etc, and nothing else. It's depressing to look at and surely some sort of street art would improve the look of the area and resident's mental health?
I'd like to try to contribute in this way, but idk how, if it's even allowed in some spots, etc.
When you look at many European cities like Amsterdam and Berlin, there's so much interesting street art intertwined within the local areas....idk, though, if that's individual or group efforts.
I know that some underpassses have been decorated in central areas of Edinburgh and can imagine it was an undertaking to arrange!
Does anyone know of any groups that organise painting of public places?
