Gate Aesthetic Question

Gate Aesthetic Question

For background, we're DIYing a picket fence with 1x4 pickets and 4x4 posts boxed in with 1x stock to make them 5x5 actual without as much risk of checking. My wife really wanted a 42" gate to make getting through it with our 2 dogs easier. So I know the gate framing on the right is better structurally because the angle is 51 degrees vs 41 on the left. But am I off base that aesthetically the one on the right looks a touch odd? Upside to the right is that we have some old thumb latches that would work through a picket but not through both a picket and a 2x4.

Also, I do expect a question of lowering the top stringer, but we are already too deep in to change and a gate with framing not lining up would bother me more than anything. Also, the pickets are a bit higher than in the rendering and gradually get higher in back areas where our historic district doesn't limit height.
