Independent cause-effect clauses
If 2 clauses are independent and connected with a conjunction, but one causes or modifies the other do you still use a comma?
E.g.:
I hate when they don’t mow the lawn, and it looks disgraceful.
Or
I hate when they don’t mow the lawn and it looks disgraceful.
