Hello!
If you got randomly banned by Automod recently, we're really sorry about the mix-up!
We want to clarify that a big part of these recent bans and post removals are actually coming directly from Reddit's site-wide filters, not our own mod team's settings. Because of the massive amount of referral spam and bot-like behavior hitting the sub lately, Reddit's admin team has us under a bit of a microscope to make sure things stay clean. As a result, their automated filters are cranked up way too high right now and are unfortunately catching legitimate users in the crossfire.
To get those site-wide filters relaxed and get things back to normal, we have to clean house on our end. We've updated and simplified the rules (check the sidebar for the full list), but here are the main things changing today:
- Referrals need a clean link: If you post a referral link (in posts or comments), you have to explicitly say it's a referral and put a regular, non-referral link right next to it. Hit-and-run link droppers will be banned.
- One post per day: Limit is 1 post per 24 hours.
- No jobs or recruiting: No "For Hire", looking for work, or recruiting posts allowed.
- Task approval: Any miscellaneous tasks need Modmail approval before you post.
Thanks for bearing with us and for reporting the junk when you see it. We're just trying to keep the community actually usable for everyone.
