Im left handed but I fish left hand retrieve, right hand cast (right handed method I heard). It’s what i’ve been doing for the entirety I’ve been fishing. I’ve been recently going fishing more often and im certain it’s a hobby that’ll stick with me for the rest of my life. Im a sort of perfectionist and have been thinking about switching to a left handed casting, right hand retrieve style(left handed method) of fishing.
The reason being is because i’ve heard that my hooksets will be more powerful, casting could be more consistent, and being able to feel the rod better.
I’ve practiced in my garage which mainly consists of mimicking motions i’d do in the real deal in a river. I feel that my casting and hooksetting feels more fast and powerful right handed but smaller movements such as tossing a jig under some cover feels more in control and “accurate” when the rod is in my dominant hand (left).
I know that if I do switch, it’ll be all rigid for a while and Im willing to go through that but Im here to know if it’s worth it.
