Art Directors: I'm building a custom photography DAM. What features would actually make your life easier?

I'm putting out a call to the Art Directors here who spend their days wrestling with massive image libraries and endless asset folders.

I'm currently developing my own custom Digital Asset Management (DAM) system from the ground up to handle general photography workflows, strictly in house use.

Since you are the power users who live and breathe asset management, I'd love to get your opinions on what actually works:

What is your "holy grail" feature? When you're searching, sorting, or pulling assets for a campaign, what saves you the most time?

What drives you crazy? What do current DAMs consistently get wrong, overcomplicate, or bury in awful UI?

Is there a specific way you wish metadata was handled, displayed, or automated?

Any insights, workflow secrets, or major pet peeves you can share would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks!

The job market is so bad I might get paid for my app before I can find something part time

So starting in January, I started doing two things. I started working on a productivity app for people with ADHD and dyslexia, and I also started looking for a part-time job.

And basically the idea at the time was, "we're going to see which one makes money first".

While I have been putting in two to three applications literally every single day with not even an email response back, I've been making progress on my app.

It's not ready for monetization yet but I'm not far off.

Are we coming up on a world where entrepreneurship might have to take the place of part-time work?

Probably going to buy this beautiful thing today. What upgrades should I do?

I'm in a unique position right now where I can get this 1999 Durango for pretty cheap, and can do some upgrades to it.

I've never been able to do this before so looking for some cool ideas.

Okay so I have gigs on Fiverr and obviously that place is rife with scams, but I thought the very nature of upwork would be a little more safe.

Are you telling me I paid $15 to buy the connects to bid on this just for somebody to try to take me off site? Really?

Please tell me I'm not wasting my time with upwork.

Made a new account today and within an hour I got 3 customer. YAY!?

not yay

I'm almost certain these are scams. They are providing links, rather than what the gig calls for which is sending me the data in the Fiverr messenger.

New accounts, no purchase history.

What other scams should I be on the lookout for?
