Adapting 2008-2010 projector lights onto an 06. What is needed?
I apologize, I know there's like 50 posts on here regarding replacement headlights but I can't find any details about what I'm trying to do specifically.
The headlights on my 06 need to be replaced after over 200k miles. I have to drive to and from work in the dark most nights, and even after polishing and refinishing the stock lights, putting expensive ass halogen bulbs in them etc, they're still really dim for me. On top of that, they burn through bulbs extremely fast, and the wiring is old and crumbly and often causes them to go out if I hit a speed bump too fast.
I've considered switching to some spec-d assemblies + HID, but I've heard that not only do they not last long, but that some folks say they're dimmer than stock.
Instead I want to find some 08-10 OEM projector housings and retrofit them onto my car. It seems like I can find used ones from salvage for around $150/pair. If I could I'd spend more for NOS OEM replacements, but I can't find any that won't end up being like $600 for the pair.
My understanding is that tc1s are pretty much interchangable as far as the body physically clipping together, but I'm guessing the harness for the newer projector lights is different. Does anyone know what exactly is needed to get them on there?
Alternatively, there is a set of spec-d lights on FB marketplace near me for $60. For that price I'd be willing to put up with the lower longevity, but not if they'll be dimmer than stock. thoughts on that?
