Some of you may have seen my previous post about HDR10 content being dim when converted to DV. After some discussion on that thread, plus some digging of my own, I think the DV conversion is behaving as expected. However, I've discovered a different issue: I can't disable VS10 for HDR10 content.

Here are my DV settings (avdvplus R9 on an ugoos am6b+):

Set DV Mode: On Demand

Set DV Output Signal Type...: Off

Set DV Output Type: Display Led (DV as DV-Std RGB 8-Bit Tunnel)

Choose DV or HDR10+ video stream to output when both are present: DV

Convert HDR10+ video to DV profile 8.1 during playback: Yes

Choose HDR10+ conversion to DV instead of original DV video stream when both are present: No

DV VS10 for SDR8 video: Off

DV VS10 for SDR10 video: Off

The above settings are all fine and are how I want them. Below is where things get strange.

DV VS10 for HDR10 video: DV

The only options listed for this setting are DV or SDR -- there's no option to turn VS10 off. While playing a movie, I can switch to "original" using the added buttons in the custom skin, but when viewing the player process screen it becomes clear that "original" is actually just converting HDR10 to SDR, rather than playing in HDR10. The system seems entirely incapable of playing HDR10 content without converting it. This doesn't make any sense to me, as I've never seen anyone mention this issue before, and I've confirmed that my TV is able to play HDR10 content. While some people say that converting to DV is the better option for this setting, I'd at least like the *option* to view a movie in its originally mastered format.

DV VS10 for HLG video: DV (same issue as above in that I can only select SDR or DV, but this one makes some degree of sense as I've confirmed through other means that my tv doesn't support HLG)

DV VS10 for DV video: Off

I'm wondering if perhaps I didn't do the install correctly somehow? Maybe I somehow skipped a step that was crucial for making this build work properly? I have confirmed through test files that DV FEL is working, so I would think if I had messed something up, I'd be seeing some signs there, but I'm not. As it is right now, absolutely everything works properly *except* HDR10 -- and even HDR10 content works fine when converted to DV; I just for some strange reason can't play in HDR10.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this? I'd like to avoid doing a clean install if possible (and honestly I'm not entirely certain it would even be worth it for something this small, but it would really be nice to have it work properly).

Possibly important extra note: I was originally using an HDMI switch between the ugoos and the tv. I have since connected the box straight to the tv in case that was causing the issue, and then reset the settings under System > CoreElec to see if that refreshed things and made the new options pop up, but still nothing.

I'm using the avdvplus build on an ugoos am6b+ and it works great, but there's one small thing I was wondering if only I had experienced. My TV has DV capability but not HDR10, so any time I watch an HDR10 movie, I have it set to convert to DV (as is generally recommended).

Now, obviously this looks a lot better than having it set to SDR, but nonetheless HDR10 movies always look quite decently dimmer than expected when converted. I'm aware that HDR10 (I believe, anyway) doesn't have as high a peak brightness as DV FEL, but it's not just the peak brightness -- it's as though the entire dynamic range of the image is scaled downward, leaving midtones a lot darker than expected as well. I've confirmed this by comparing both the DV and the HDR10 versions of Avatar: The Way of Water, in which it is very clear that the DV version is a lot brighter across the board, not just in the highlights. This is also somewhat true when converting SDR movies to DV, though to a lesser extent (and I don't usually convert those as I'd rather view a movie in its originally mastered format rather than rely on a one-size-fits-all conversion where possible).

Is this normal and expected behavior, and if so, is there no way to manually adjust and offset the brightness of the conversion process? It's not such a noticeable issue that it's distracting, but nonetheless if there's something I can do to offset the brightness I'd love to know.

I'm aware of the TVTunes addon, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I'm wondering if there's a way to have a button on the information page of a movie which could be (preferably manually, for full control) linked to that movie's soundtrack in my music library, so that clicking on it would take me to that album. It's not a huge thing but as a big film score fan, I feel like it would be really neat to be able to access a movie's soundtrack through the movie's page.
