RAD intermediate exam: how bad is it if I couldn't nail my doubles
Hi everyone!
Adult learner here, and I just finished my RAD intermediate exam (my first ballet exam ever!) and while I left feeling generally confident, the one thing that I'm really worried about is the second pirouette exercise which requires double en dedans turns. I generally suck at turning, and while I can usually land double en dehors (sometimes triple), I just cannot manage to figure out how to get en dedans double, I either can't get around with enough force for a double or give too much force and throw myself out of the turn.
I have other strengths, my teacher says I have very good use of turnout, I have strong extensions, and often uses me as an example of good musicality and expression in class (thanks to playing an instrument and doing theatre as a kid 😅). Adagio and grand allegro are my best exercises. I'm not the fastest person around, but my petit allegro has improved a lot and am pretty decent.
I feel like I really utilized my good qualities to the best of my ability throughout the exam. How bad is it actually to have fallen out of my doubles?
Thank you everyone!
