Something about her melody and vocals in this song hits deep. It makes me reflect on my own flaws, on the expectations I’ve set for myself to be independent, to solve everyone’s problems, to be the one who’s always there.

I’ve been falling short of being that light. It’s humbling, and it tears me up. But there’s something relieving about how this song lays the tension between wanting to be free and wanting to be everything for others.

I’m still very unsure, like it captured a longing I can’t fully describe. But that’s part of what makes it so powerful.

I was on the way to her listening event and I had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere in an empty Seattle street. After a long time, wanted to do friends again and finally meet my people, but ended up sitting there in my car all alone listening to her and when Loneliest girl (boy) came up, it made me so happy and felt as comforting as a warm hug.

Not the first time Magical Musgraves' music hit me at the right time in my life, but always comes as a surprise when it does.
