Does anyone know what the algorithm SWA uses for assigning seats to passengers? In my flight last week, I was randomly assigned to a middle seat in the last few rows of the aircraft. No one was in the two rows ahead of me or the row behind. Yet, my row was filled.
I asked the flight attendant if I could move, but he refused. Another flight attendant later saw the situation and allowed me to move. It made me question the algorithm Southwest uses... if the reason behind it is weight distribution, money, or if it was something else. That's why I'm asking here if anyone cracked the code behind the algorithm they use.
(Sorry if this was already answered in a previous post)
