26M USA. Just got a new kitten, 9 weeks old, only on day 2 so I know its early. She seems comfortable, shes an absolute chaos gremlin. But she seems to think the litterbox is optional. Sometimes she uses it, most of the time she just goes wherever shes sitting. My last cat was perfect with the box day one at about the same age, so I didnt have to do any training.
