Hey I’m 19, and live in Sacramento, although I’m not sure if my location matters. I have construction experience what so ever but I know I want to be an electrician. I signed up for the IBEW 340, but I’ve heard the waiting list can take 12-18 months. Ive talked to some private companies nearby and they all say that unless I have work experience or certificates/done some electrical school, it’s going to be impossible to get hired.

I’ve heard about a few different things in the meantime, WECA, Smud, ET, etc. So from someone with experience, what steps should I take in order to become an apprentice in the quickest time possible. I don’t really want to wait 12-18 months when I feel like I can start sooner. What are you thoughts?
