Hiya!
So while I haven’t been officially diagnosed with a table tilt test, I discussed all my symptoms with a neurologist (who I see regularly for migraines) and he got me on a beta blocker because my heart rate was really scary. Like standing in the middle of the room not moving it would be in the 160s, mild exercise it would be 180s. So I got put on 80mg of propranolol once a day (extended release) and it was doing so so well. Then I (intentionally) lost 60lbs and now my dosage was screwed up. My heart rate was down, but my blood pressure was like 80s/50s low and drs were concerned. So now I’m on 20mg 2X a day. And I hate it.
I used to not have to think much about it. The worst side effect was nearly blacking out when I was standing up, but it’s like that anyway for me so it wasn’t entirely new. Now I feel like I have no energy. By the end of the day I’m terrified to walk up the stairs to go to bed because the beta blocker has worn off so I feel like I’m going to pass out every time. Sometimes I forget to take it in the morning and then I feel like I’m having a panic attack but it’s just my heart at 135 for no reason. It’s just exhausting to deal with.
If you take a beta blocker, which ones have you have the most success with? I know it’s near impossible trying to find one that doesn’t lower your BP but I miss being able to think about anything other than “will I be able to function today”
