Thoughts after coming back to finish BB

Backstory: I first watched BB 15 years ago, probably from season 2. I then watched as it came out until the end of Season 4... and for some reason didnt watch season 5. Even as people were telling me it was the best ending/series ever. No idea why. I think it was all a bit intense and I needed a break.

I am now rewatching to finally finish the series. I am now just finished Season 3. Here are some thoughts on the show 10-15 years on before I finally finish the series.

- I used to really dislike Hank. Thought he was your run of the mill arrogant jock. I am way more sympathetic this time around. Clearly suffers from PTSD, a solid family man, who unfortunately can't shake loose (for lack of a better word) some pretty toxic masculinity traits. However, the good outweigh the bad with Hank. Before the scale tipped the other way.

- As above with Skylar. Unsure what this sub thinks of her, but I hated her. Always putting her nose in Walt's business, cheating on Walt, basically grating my nerves every time shes on screen. Now her actions are probably the most real on a very unreal show. I hated her because she acted as a real human would in thst situation. I wont give her too much leeway for cheating, but even that i felt was her asserting her independent will in the face of Walt's lies. Actually, I think that's why I disliked her so much, she just didnt swallow Walt's lies whole like i wanted her to.

- Jesse is now the hero for me. Wont go into this as im sure this sub agrees. I feel like my first watch season 1 and 2 Jesse clouded my opinion of him, along with all of his poor decisions, but his moral character that appears from Season 3 indicates to me he's really the moral protagonist moving forward.

- i used to be very pro Walt. Thought all his decisions, while difficult, were the ones he had to make. I now think Walt's an amoral manipulative psychopath. Even with everything hes been through. However, im still very much pro team Walt and Pinkman

One minor quibble with the ending of Season 3: The two ex Cartel members who shot thr 11 year old boy after Gus explicit told them not to involve kids any more. What gives? I found this one of the more poor/unbelievable writing choices in the show. I dont understand their motivations beyond giving Jesse (a dude they didnt know up until now) a big Fuck You at the costs of their lives - either by being jailed or being punished by Gus. Please explain without Spoilers haha
