The growing speed problem behind ransomware attacks
I read The Ransomware Speed Crisis and thought it did a strong job explaining how much ransomware has changed, especially when it comes to speed and effectiveness.
One section that stood out was the impact of supply chain attacks.
The article noted that supply chain attacks have become the second most common attack vector, making up 15% of attacks, and the second costliest, averaging $4.91 million in damages.
That makes sense when you think about the scale. If attackers compromise one vendor, they may be able to reach hundreds or even thousands of downstream organizations. It turns one successful compromise into a much larger attack path.
To me, that’s what makes supply chain attacks so concerning. They are not just about one company’s security posture anymore. They expose how connected every organization is to the vendors, platforms, and partners they rely on every day.
Curious how other teams are thinking about this. Are supply chain risks becoming a bigger part of your ransomware recovery planning?
