I'm using Loadcalc.net to figure out sizing a system. I have a 1600 SF ranch with a full finished basement (another 1600 SF, so a total of 3200 for the house) just SW of Denver. While there's ductwork in the basement, we keep all vents closed during the winter and it maintains about 65 degrees. The entire basement ceiling also has Rockwool sound insulation, which doesn't have a defined R-value but I would guess is around R-6.
My question is how to factor this in on the load calc. Their help states to "Enter the sq. ft. of flooring over a crawlspace, garage, basement or exposed area" - if I do that, it comes up with 100k BTU heating load. If I set it to 0, it drops down to 20k BTU, which seems a lot closer to correct. I'm also including the 1600 SF of basement floor.
