With Duster and Kumatora, I've decided to take a more “free-style” approach, using both official images and a little bit of fan art.
Although I've had some doubts about the designs, at the end of the day this is just something a fan put together, so I'm not really stressed about it.
It's poetic, isn't it?
I just finished Mother 3 today, the very same day I’m posting this.
Honestly, this, along with the experience of completing the game, has been incredibly cathartic (since I don’t usually finish games), and seeing that despite all the difficulties—both in the game and in my life—I’m glad to know that I’m still here, sharing this with you all. Thank you!
You can't imagine how excited I was to share this—I was so excited that I decided to make both a younger version and a more mature version (though the latter was just for fun).
I already have Lucas ready along with his younger version, but I’ll post it tomorrow for added drama (and to take advantage of the extra time to finish Duster and Kumatora).
Anyway, thanks for the warm reception this series has received; I really have a lot of fun converting those polygons into pixels.
The eyes and the head were the hardest parts, especially the eyes (seriously, how do you capture that in just 4 pixels?). I’ll just say that the solution came to me thanks to Caribou, and it was definitely a good decision.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t include his collar due to the size and expressiveness of the head, not to mention his skinny little legs.
Anyway, now I’ll move on to the twins, and contrary to what many people think, it won’t be a simple recolor (I’ll take some liberties so that each one is recognizable without losing that trait that makes them twins).
I plan to draw the remaining characters from the image (Kumatora and Duster will be included at some point).
I hope you like it. Also, if anyone knows of or has an image of someone who has done something similar to what I’m doing (pixel art), please share it with me—I’d love to see other interpretations besides my own.
