Hey! I just went to an ER in Alberta for chest pain, shortness of breath, productive cough, lightheadedness and cold!like symptoms that have been plaguing me for about 4 weeks now. For context, I've gone to another ER on the 17th regarding the cold symptomsbefore they fully developed to this point, they took chest x-rays and bloodwork and said aside from not breathing properly they didn't suspect more than a cold. Those guys sent me home with an inhaler to help ease my breathing. They told me if I still showed symptoms and things haven't improved in 2 weeks to go back or talk to my doctor. I called my doctor for an appointment, but he's booking a month out. I even called 811 last night and explained so I wouldn't be wasting time going to the ER if I don't have to, they said head in ASAP as viral things can develop to bacterial especially if I'm still progressing for the worst. So. This ER. I went and laid out my symptoms, treatment list, meds, the whole workthrough. They took my blood pressure, pulse, temp and listened to my chest. That's is. In my time there they didn't explain what they were looking for and did/n't find, or do any other checks. Not even bloodwork. They handed me a pill, a prescription for amoxicillin and sent me on my way without ANY kind of explanation. I got home, called them to see if they could break down what they were treating me for and answer questions. They said they can't check my chart after discharge, and that doctor's gone for the day. They gave me the clinic, Dr and phone for said clinic and said call tomorrow. This kinda bugs me, but not as much as the next bit. The guy I share a room with was there when I came in. I found out from him he was in for similar symptoms with nausea and vomiting too, but his symptoms have been easing since yesterday. He got a full workup, IV, everything. He was still there when I left. Turns out the doctor was off ten minutes after I was discharged. Am I wrong for being confused and a bit concerned? It kinda feels like they just gave me a general antibiotic with no explanation, diagnosis or general investigation in the problem and sent me out so the doctor wouldn't be late to leave. Was there something I or they should have done differently, or is this normal?
