Help/questions for planning a trip to China
Hi everyone. Im planing on doing a trip to china this summer(late july early August) and would like some help and tips when it comes to being in the country. My main questons are:
-Transit apps for getting around the country
-purchasing train tickets to other cities
Is it online or can I purchase at a counter/kiosk in the station?
-payment methods
I heard cash isnt really a thing there anymore so would i just use a regular payment card or do I have to sign up for a specific app or get a special payment when card?
-accommodation booking
What websites are good for booking hotels?
-using social media
-major holidays i should be aware of to help avoid busy crowds
I've traveled to places like korea and Japan and I was able to use apps like google maps and Naver for transit withing the cities but as well travel from one city to the other, but ive heard google, Instagram, tiktok dont work as they blocked. Im assuming I can use a vpn but what would be a good one?
I plan on visiting Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. Im planning on flying to Chongqing instead of train, but i do plan on using the train for travel between Beijing and Shanghai.
Im flying from Canada so I believe we do get visa free for up to 30 days. Is there an online forms i would to fill out prior to arrival?
