Apologies if I’m retreading well-worn ground, but, like others I see here, I’m an aging millennial (late 30s) who’s looking to update a wardrobe informed by what was fashionable 2006-2020. I understand the need for well-tailored, less severe (read “form fitting”) clothing, but I’m hoping for input on retailers/designers/etc beyond J. Crew, Banana Republic, etc. Those are great and I have clothes from them, but I’m also looking to add some pieces that maybe don’t fit in the fast fashion or accessible luxury categories. Not looking for $700 pants per se, but pants/shirts up to $300 or $400 that are perhaps of a little higher quality in terms of material and construction than the aforementioned brands, and that will last a long time. Big fan of r/heritagewear, but I also work in an industry in which I can’t look like a 1940s stevedore everyday. Go-to outfit now is a plain blank Hanes t-shirt, 1620 slim fit Foundation pant, and Red Wing mocs or IRs. Hoping to build up a wardrobe slightly less casual than this.
