My Duro collection.
What can I say, I love duros. They check a lot of boxes for me. They are great beater watches I can wear in the field at work stress free. They are a lot of fun to tinker with and mod. Most importantly, they also have a lot of sentimental value to me too.
I only started wearing watches after my dad passed. The bluro is actually the first watch I ever bought. I asked my dad what watch he wanted for a milestone birthday, and that’s what he picked out. Now, today I‘m pretty into watch’s(if the 8 duros that aren’t even my full watch collection didn’t give that away..) but back then I didn’t know anything about them. My Dad, who only ever had one watch at a time and would wear it as a daily driver, picked the duro when I insisted I didn’t mind spending more on him. The ironic thing is my dad didn’t know about the duro’s reputation back then either. If you knew him you would understand why he wanted the duro, and I’m going to be honest, it was a pretty stupid reason 😂. He was a blue collar worker who spent ever summer weekend I can remember offshore fishing, and was obsessed with Marlins. He would always say he lobbied for my name to be Marlin(it isn’t haha). So obsessed with marlins, they became a motif of sorts to represent him after he passed. And when he had the pick of any watch to replace his old 15 year daily wear…. He picked it solely because it had a marlin on it.
Sorry for the wall of text, the crystal was destroyed on that bluro, and in fixing it, I fell into the durogang rabbit hole…. Some just have strap swaps, some a little more work, but it’s been fun growing my collection to this point!
