For those who live in California, I have a question regarding a referral we received from our regional center. My daughter is an adult receiving housing support, independent living skills, therapy, and the ILS person has recommended additional In Home Supportive Services. I have reached out to my daughter’s social worker to find out about Self-Determination Program, I have taken the classes and turned in my certificates of completion, but the only response I have received is a referral to an agency “LIFE - Living in Familiar Environments” which can help us by me turning over all of my daughter’s finances for them to control. This kinda freaks me out and I am looking for other people who have had experience with similar circumstances that are willing to share.
