Looking for baby name advice because I’m stuck
I absolutely love the name Clare, but my last name starts with R, and I worry the two names run together too much. The middle name would most likely be Marion to honor my grandpa, which I love for the meaning. I also prefer the spelling Clare to honor a grandparent as well
I also really love Caroline Clare (honoring grandparents, with the cute nickname Cece as an option). My hesitation there is that the rest of our family all happens to have M names. This was not on purpose, but now I’m wondering if this baby would feel left out someday with a different initial (This is why I am liking Marion for middle name). At the same time, I really don’t want to choose an M name I don’t truly love just to fit a theme that wasn’t intentional in the first place. I’m not loving Caroline Marion because this takes away the Cece nickname potential.
We tend to love classic, timeless names with family meaning. We already have daughters with variations of Margaret and Mary, so that rules out a lot of M names I’d otherwise consider. We have thought about Camille nickname “Millie” but I have a negative association with this name I can’t get past. I’ve thought also thought about Clara instead of Clare because of our last name, but I just don’t love it as much as Clare.
So I’d love opinions:
- Does Clare + an R last name sound too run-together?
- Would a third baby with a non-M name feel odd/left out in an accidental M-initial family?
- Any classic, meaningful name ideas that I’m not thinking of that might fit this style?
