TL;DR: my case fans sound like jet engines in my hyte y90 case. Is it possible to have quieter fans while still remaining air cooled? Or should I get an AIO?
Longer story: I built my PC back in 2023 with a Corsair AIO. Last Summer, the AIO pump died and I switched to a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 just to get back up and running. I took the glass panels off the case to give better open air flow, and that seems to work ok with an air cooler. However, if I put the glass panels back on, my case fans sound like they're trying to achieve liftoff.
For reference, I have 1 back fan (exhaust), 3 top fans (exhaust), 2 side fans (intake), and 2 bottom fans (intake).
Now, I'm (finally) trying to more fully solve the noise issue. I hesitate to go back to AIO because when my previous one failed, my computer force shut down because of heat. I'd rather not go through that again, and air seems more reliable.
Is there a better fan config or better CPU fan that would calm the case fans down? Or should I go back and look into AIOs again? If AIO is the way to go, any recommendations?
TIA!
