I haven’t bought Pokémon cards since I was a kid, so I’m completely out of the loop on what sets/packs people actually buy now.

A new friend recently got me into Pokémon Go, and while I was visiting Japan I ended up spending a bunch of time looking through used Pokémon card shops and picking up some that she'd like, I had way more fun than I expected.

Now that I’m back home, I want to buy some sealed packs for us to open together, but I have no idea where to start.

What sets are fun right now for someone getting back into the hobby? Not really trying to make money or invest, mostly just looking for cool art, fun pulls, nostalgia, and packs that are enjoyable to open
