Hello everyone, I been reading and researching posts here and I learned a lot during my research. Here's the long story short:

  • Father had a heart attack before his 85th birthday in Nov 2025.
  • His Triple Bypass surgery from 2012 was no longer affective on his heart.
  • Heart Infraction Rate went down to 30%-35%, also have Heart Disease and Type II Diabetes.
  • Hospital told him only choices he has was surgery with 10% chance of survival, wear a defibrillator and medical therapy (pills).
  • Instead, my father refused the defibrillator and signed a DNR since we are in Florida (yes, it is on the yellow form).
  • Due to the action above, my father was enrolled in home-care hospice and only doing pills.
  • The medication is helping improving my father's health where he can do things by himself but is sleeping more often and sitting down more often and is getting tired more often, does have edina issues on his legs.
  • Due to not much signs of decline, it is possible hospice will have to discharge him in two months. Not end of the world for my father, we have our primary care doctor near by.
  • However, I was warned by hospice that it is highly possible my father can die in his sleep or have a stroke since he is a stroke risk (related to the triple bypass surgery from 2012 and no longer being effective).

Since he is only surviving on pills, my question for those who have experience is will these medications will get to the point it will no longer help my father with his heart? In other words, will the meds just will not even control the issues of his heart and it will get worse? My father is clear he wants to die in the house and refuse to go to the hospital (even if he gets discharged from hospice and shit hits the fan), which I reminded him that the meds are helping him keep going but it can stop working at any time. It is also due to him refusing to wear the defibrillator and singing the DNR.

Here's the list of medication my father is taking:

  • Baby Aspirin 81 MG (Heart)
  • Clopidogrel (Plavix) 75 MG (Heart)
  • Furosemide 40 MG (Heart)
  • Metorprolo Succinate XL 25 MG (Heart)
  • Tamsulosin (Flomax) 0.4 MG (Not Heart, Prostate)
  • Metformin (Type II Diabetes)
  • Glipizide (Type II Diabetes)

Thanks for your time.
