My understanding is that msra was adopted in most specialities simply because there was way too many applicants to interview so they needed a questionable exam to whittle that number down. Given UKGP, the number of applications may fall off a cliff if they're not already.
Will we finally see some sort of return to training programmes selecting for people who are actually interested in the speciality?
