Hello everyone!
I lost my backpack on the Friday, 24th of April, that contained alot of important items on my way to Narita airport. I am a little desperate hence I am posting this on reddit. I also added TLDR's for the people that are experts already and only need little information to help.
I had to leave the country by now, so I AM NOT IN JAPAN anymore, but I would still like to ask the odds and steps necessary to get my backpack back.
- My route:
The route I took is from an AirBnB in 1-chōme Yokokawa, Tokyo. From that I went to the Ōshiage station and at first wanted to take the Keisei skyliner to the airport. Unfortunately I realized I couldn't print out the ticket there (booked via Klook) so I had to go to either Ueno or Nippori Station first. I chose the Asakusa line and got out at Asakusa station. On my way to take the Ginza line to Nippori I realized my backpack was gone.
TLDR; My backpack most probably got lost between Ōshiage station and Asakusa station.
- Steps already done
I already reported my loss to the police station near the Tokyo Skytree, which was the Honjyo right next to the Skytree (You can see which station I am referring to in the screenshot). Back then I didn't know which brand my backpack was from so I just noted down a black backpack in the report.
After reporting in I went around the Ōshiage station area and asked in a FamilyMart and Lawson + the major Honjyo police station (THIS IS NOT THE PLACE WHERE I REPORTED MY LOSS).
Additionally I asked at two Lost&Found stations: Ōshiage and Asakusa Station. Both said nothing has been found yet.
Since I had to leave Japan on this day, I also kinda reported my loss at the German embassy in Tokyo, but I didn't really catch if only my passport has been reported or my whole backpack.
Now back at home I also checked on this page: https://www.ishitsu.keishicho.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/syutoku/Buppin?Length=0 whether something has been handed in - once again with no success.
TLDR; Steps taken:
- reported in German embassy and Honjyo police station (Koban-like as it was a small station with one officer inside)
- asked around in nearby conbinis plus major police station Honjyo
- asked at two Lost&found stations of train line I took (Asakusa line, Ōshiage and Asakusa station)
- checked on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Lost and Found Public Announcement System if my backpack has been found
- What should I do next?
I have a few worries about what to do next:
- language barrier; I know little japanese and it will definetly not help in a call
- cost to make the call; if I call the department, it will be quite expensive. Are there workarounds to avoid unnecessary costs?
- if they manage to find my backpack how can I retrieve it? What's the smartest? Via call, email, form from website X?
Since it's been two days with no success, I am kinda worried it has been stolen instead of lost.
I would be very happy about any form of help!
