Should I ask about a bonus that was in my original employment agreement?

Here are some quick bullet points on the situation

- Hired in May 2024, with 160,000 salary and a guaranteed bonus of 35,000 annually, every year after my date of hire.

-I received the first bonus on December 31, 2024, a few months early. It was a reward by my boss, the CFO, for a job well done

-I was promoted in March 2025 to Chief compliance officer. I maintained my old responsibilities and acquired new ones. I was given a second title in addition to my old one.

- When I was hired, there wasn't a new contract. which I did notice and was a little concerned about. I was simply told my new Salary would be 190,000.

-I haven't received a bonus since that one in December 31, 2024. Do you think I should I ask about it? My second anniversary just passed and no one has mentioned it.

There is a bit a muddy language around the bonus in my agreement. It is referred to as "guaranteed", but is also said to be at the discretion of the company if the company or employee hasn't performed well. I'm just realizing now how contradictory that is....

I feel like it could become a messy situation. I've performed well at work, but the company hasn't been performing well for about 2 years. On another note, my wife is having our second child in July and I could really use the money.
