Thanks to this sub, I've spent way more money on flashlights in the past 3 months than I have when I bought my HDS Rotary 10 years ago. It's been an internal struggle trying to carry something other than the HDS because that has been my grail light and works perfect for my EDC needs.

New Light Week: Emisar KR1AA, Emisar D4SV2, Fireflies L60 Mu Aura, L50 Sol, Zebralight SC65c HI

A couple thoughts I've had:

  • Anduril 2 is not that hard to figure out if you isolate things and only figure out what you're trying to do.
  • I'm still struggling with the Zebralight UI. I understand it and have the hang of it, but it's still not intuitive to me, even after programming the light the way I wanted.
  • The E04 Surge is currently my favorite "do it all" light. It has plenty of light for walking the dog at night while still being pocketable, but is also right at home on a nightstand in our newborn daughters bedroom to serve as the night light. The D4SV2 might end up taking the nightstand spot though.
  • I like the dual channel and triple channel lights for hiking/backpacking/hunting. I really value the red light to avoid attracting bugs when moving slow and preserving night vision.
  • The right angle Fireflies are my new running lights. The L60 goes around my waist and the L50 is on my head. I used them last night and am very pleased with this setup. I have the D3AA as my backup/emergency light in a pocket on my handheld water bottle in case I get stuck out later than expected during the day.
