Hey everyone ,,,
I’m looking for some advice or personal experiences regarding Allergen Immunotherapy (SCIT)... especially for those dealing with pretty severe respiratory issues.
To give some context... I’ve been battling a "triple threat" of conditions: Chronic Sinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), allergic fungal sinusitis, and significant airway inflammation... plus lots of swelling of the turbinates! or tissues…
For the past year ,,, I’ve been on Xolair (300mg every 4 weeks). It’s definitely helped with the day-to-day misery... less sneezing and the constant runny nose has calmed down... but it hasn’t really stopped the underlying immune "panic" when I hit a trigger. My main issue is a Class 6 Dust Mite allergy and extremely high IgE levels.
I’m considering starting SCIT (subcutaneous immunotherapy) alongside the Xolair... to see if I can actually desensitize my system rather than just masking the symptoms.
A few questions for the group:
• Has anyone here done SCIT while staying on a biologic like Xolair?
• If you have a Class 6 allergy (especially dust mites) ,,, did immunotherapy actually move the needle for you??
• With nasal polyps and fungal sinusitis in the mix... did desensitization help reduce the inflammation long-term?
