Hi all,
My dad’s iPhone and mine for over a decade now have thought we are the same person… sometimes. Basically, many years ago (maybe 15?) when we had very early iPhones (and before Spotify) my dad and I attempted to share music we purchased through iTunes by sharing an Apple ID and thought nothing of it. However, over the years, it’s become a nightmare because our phones think we’re the same person. When I try to change my personal info/account at the top of the settings page, it shows my photo but my dad’s name. We get all of each other’s texts and our phones don’t send notifications to each other because it shows us as one person. I have “Send/Receive” set to only receive texts for MY phone number and this still happens. Under “Text Message Forwarding” it shows my dad’s phone but I have no option to toggle this off (many people have told me to just turn off text message forwarding, but my phone physically gives me no option to turn it off). I am at a loss because I have SO MUCH stuff in the cloud on this Apple ID. I write music and have several notes and voice recordings of songs, as well as thousands of photos of my dog, niece and nephew, etc. My dad has less stuff on his account, but it’s HIS account. I don’t know what to do, and I’m honestly afraid that this has gone so long that it can’t be fixed without losing everything. Does anyone know what’s going on?
