Santa Fe opera / Student film

Hey, I’m just starting acting, and I’ve been in two plays at my university theater so far. That’s really all the experience I have right now. I recently got a job offer with the Santa Fe Opera over the summer. It wouldn’t be for acting, though — it would be part of the stage crew. I wanted to know if you think it would be a smart move to take it. I know I could probably make connections there, but I wouldn’t actually be acting.

Right now, I don’t have any acting jobs lined up for the summer, so I’m wondering if going to Santa Fe would be the smarter choice. At the same time, there’s a student film shooting over the summer that I’m in, which would be more related to what I want to do. I could possibly do both the film and Santa Fe, but I wouldn’t really make much money.

I’ve also thought about just applying for background work around my area and doing short films. I’ve seen some vertical films and feature film opportunities online that I could apply for too, but the likelihood of getting cast is low and it wouldn’t be as consistent as Santa Fe would be.
