I haven’t read LN 16 yet (and won’t until it is officially released in English at the end of May), so some of this might be addressed then, but I recently had a thought about Yao and her future.

Yao seems like she would be more suited for a nurse-like role than a full physician since she seems to be struggling with some of the more surgical aspects of her vocation (similar to Maomao’s colleague from the medical trials, Short Senior). Related, I think she could really benefit from a mentorship with Dr. Liu’s sister.

I think she would enjoy meeting an older woman working in the medical field.
