While it turns some people away from the show, and while some people won't even admit that he is a pedophile, I think it's great. It's such an under represented type of villain in anime, largely because Japan itself doesn't do enough to condemn that type of behavior (see Nobuhiro Watsuki). If anything, some anime make their bread and butter by leaning into the sexualization of childlike characters.

Hisoka's a predator that's been attempting to groom Gon since the beginning. For a kid, it's the perfect example of the type of realistic evil that lurks in a world outside of the safety of a home like Whale Island.

The TLDR is that the outcome of both endings is uncertain. We have no idea if Verso's ending led to the Dessendre's overcoming their grief, or if Maelle's led to her continuing the cycle like Aline. The possibility exists that both endings in and of themselves have two distinct outcomes.

For Verso's ending, the potential exists that the loss of the painted world could lead Maelle to becoming even more depressed, possibly leading to her death as well, thus tearing the family apart even further. Developer commentary aside, she considered them real. So now she grieves for many instead of one.

For Maelle's ending, the potential also exists that with Maelle's support system in the painted world, she wouldn't be doomed to repeat the cycle like Aline, who isolated herself from hers. If the cycle is broken and the infighting that turned the canvas into a warzone stopped, the engine of grief for Painted Verso and the shard of Verso's soul ends as well.

So along those lines, we can say the possibility exists for four endings, not two ("good" and "bad" being relative to each ending):

1. Verso/Good: The Dessendre's overcome their grief.

2. Verso/Bad: The Dessendre's grief continues, or becomes worse.

3. Maelle/Good: The cycle is broken, the grief is overcome.

4. Maelle/Bad: The cycle continues, the grief continues, or becomes worse.

I just want to be able to read some books written in a language I haven't learned yet. I wouldn't even need to take my glasses outside. If I needed live translation anywhere else, I'd just use my phone (which already has a camera on it, making the whole controversy seem pointless).

Looking for an MMO with a good story, how's FFXIV? Heard the pacing isn't the best, is that true?

Can't help but notice they seem to attack anyone pointing out how much of a disservice the numerous fetch quests with little or no plot progress are to the game. Do they not realize how terrible the pacing of the story is?
