Hello, i downloaded reddit purely to ask about my cat and how he’s been acting these days. He’s called Oreo, he’s a male, and has been neutered like the rest of my cats. Unfortunately I do not know his age, but we’ve had him for a decade or more now.

Starting around early April, Oreo has been getting weirdly aggressive, licking, scratching and even biting at his body, specifically the lower area, his back. Every time I try to check what may be wrong, he will start to meow loudly, which is an obvious sign of distress, so I’ve been hesitant to stroke him ever since. He seems to be fine on the head and kisses, however the lower part of his body seems to stress him out.
He does this multiple times within just minutes, not stopping. Almost like he has an itch he can’t get rid of.

I don’t know whether this is from the heat or not, as my cats tend to get floppy and pretty sensitive during the warm weather, however I feel that if this was the case, he’d have been doing this way before. Same goes to my other 3 cats.
I’m 20 years old however I live with my parents, while posting this it’s currently midnight, 1am UK time,
I cannot wake up my parents and ask them about this and because I’m extremely paranoid, I took to Reddit to ask anybody if Oreo is showing symptoms of a possible infection or injury.

Whether we will take him to the vets or not, we don’t know. But I believe we should if this behaviour continues.
I’m not great at explaining stuff but I hope this is enough information, I love my cats, each and every one of them, and Oreo is no exception. He’s never done this before and because of that it raises high concerns for me.
I don’t think my parents have noticed his weird behaviour recently, hence why I will be asking them about it in the morning but for now this is all I can really do to ease my stress.
