I made a mockup out of an old bedsheet for a dress I'm trying to make for a friend. The blue dress is our reference image, I thought it would be helpful to include. (Here is the link for the site we found it on with more picture: https://www.macloth.com/products/macloth-women-mermaid-high-neck-lace-long-formal-wedding-dress-bridesmaid-gown?variant=31891223806065&epik=dj0yJnU9aEZacVRNdTZBWndBeTJxdHNfN25Da2tRdGdKRE5NTm4mcD0wJm49WFhTaGl3cFBMXzl1dU5UZUk0QkxaQSZ0PUFBQUFBR2xkUkFZ )

I built the pattern through trial, error, sweat and tears, and the pictures with the light pink dress are from our first (and so far only) fitting. It actually fits better than I had feared, but there's still a few kinks in the upper body area - mainly the sweetheart neckline and the collar.

I think I figured out part of the problem for the collar already: I didn't build the pattern correctly, so I'm going to fix that first. And then maybe I'll take away the extra fabric I pinned away by the seams, depending on how the new collar affects things.

But with the bust part I just don't understand what the origin of the problem is. And I have no idea how to go about even figuring it out. I'm not sure if those drag lines are telling me there's too much fabric somewhere, or too little, or if maybe this is just the unfortunate reality of trying to build a shape like this with jersey??? It didn't seem to be a problem with the OG dress, though... The bra pads we used for the fitting were also not ideal, so maybe if i find ones that go up higher that might offer some support for the fabric and help smoothen it out? I really don't know.

If anyone has ideas for what I could try to figure this out I'd be really grateful. I also have some more pics in case these aren't enough. Unfortunately my friend lives 3 hours away so I can't easily do another fitting anytime I want.
