I am going to start applying now after completing 6 Months in Witch as a fresher, what's the current market situation at this level, please share your experience.

Hey everyone,

I’m a 2025 grad currently working at a WITCH company and completed 6 months at April end. I’m starting to think about switching for better learning opportunities, backend-focused roles, and overall growth.

I wanted to get a realistic idea of the current market before I go all in. Would really appreciate insights from people who’ve recently switched or are hiring.

Some specific questions:

  • How is the market right now for <1 year experience candidates?
  • Are companies actually hiring freshers with ~6 months experience, or do they still prefer 1–2 YOE?
  • What tech stack is getting the most traction for backend roles (Java/Spring Boot vs Node vs Python)?
  • Is it better to apply aggressively now or wait till I complete 1 year?
  • How important are projects vs actual work experience at this stage?
  • What kind of DSA/system design prep is expected at this level?
  • Any tips to stand out (resume, referrals, GitHub, etc.)?
  • Should I focus on backend right now or should I study more about AI+backend for getting more good opportunities, I understand that both are having good demand right now but my aim is to get out from my current job ASAP.

I’m currently working on improving my backend skills and building projects, but want to make sure I’m timing this right.

Would love to hear your experiences, especially from people who switched early in their careers.

Thanks!
