My late uncle passed away in 2023. Not long after, my aunt started seeing someone she met ONLINE. I was shocked when my cousin told me her mum has a boyfriend, but honestly, my family and I usually don't interfere in people’s love lives. For background, my aunt never had any official education, OKU pekak & bisu. However, I did some digging. She showed me his name and picture, so I Googled him and this guy has a million social media accounts with different usernames on the same platforms. I thought, damn, either he’s a player or his photos are being used for catfishing.

  1. He only talks to her in English. My aunt cannot speak English, so she uses Google Translate for every single message.

  2. The scammer is using photos of "Zaidi Manaff". The photos are heavily edited/AI-generated. He even sent a fake photo of himself in a hospital to guilt-trip her into sending RM1,700 for an "operation."

  3. We actually had a family friend who is a police officer talk to her. She didn't believe the police! (WTF). All her siblings tried talking to her, but they've given up because she refuses to listen and even had the nerve to try and borrow money from them to send to this guy.

About RM30k gone in just 8 months. Lesap macam tu je, bro. That money was from my late uncle’s SOCSO and EPF. What breaks my heart is that she is very kedekut (stingy) with her own children (16F and 12M) but so generous with this scammer. Itu apa yang kita tahu, yang tak tahu? Idk how much.

The scammer promised to marry her. I told her I’d pay for the whole wedding as long as he comes to KL to meet me face-to-face. His response? He asked my aunt for more money because he "doesn't have enough funds" to travel to KL.

I need advice

Update:
I've talked to my aunt, and I insisted we go meet him if he can't come here to meet us. However my aunt shuts that down quickly since the scammer scolded my aunt. One suggested that I take care of my cousins, I do what I can. However I just got married and to fully take care of them in my house is quite hard, since me and my husband are working and can't take them to school etc. Me and my family would take them out at least once a month to buy groceries, school supplies etc.

A few suggested that I dropped his number here, me and my family did that and the scammer just changed his number. Some suggested I lodged a police report, fyi I did once but it was about her leaving home and left her two children alone (this was because I scolded her really bad since she gave the scammer a lot of money and I got my aunt's siblings to be involved - macam merajuk la).

Some suggested we scammed my aunt instead, we will try lmao
