As the title says, we’re looking to make a Change from USB to XLR. The pod has 2 hosts and we want to occasionally take on guests. It’s becoming clear that usb mics aren’t worth the hassle when trying to record this many people.
We currently have 2 Rode NT-USB mini and 1 other mic that the brand slips my mind right now. The rode mics are used to record our regular pods.
We have a fairly limited budget and a bit of a tight deadline as we have a guest episode lined up that we’d like to get recorded sooner rather than later. I came across the Sennheiser e825S and I think we can squeeze 3 of these while also getting an audio interface with enough inputs. I also found the Behringer XM8500 which is obviously much cheaper but I’m worried the sound quality won’t be great out of it. Another possibility I was thinking of is buying 2 of the e825s mics and 1 XM8500 for the guest episodes.
Has anyone got any experience with these mics? Even some suggestions of other mics within the same price range would be greatly appreciated.
We’re also looking at the BEHRINGER UMC404HD to use at the audio interface. We’re both very new to this and the pod is far exceeding our expectations already, we would ideally like to upgrade to better equipment if and when the pod starts generating any cash but I’d also like to keep our audio quality somewhat decent for now because I know this could take months or years.
