Seeking Incontinence advice
Hey everyone! I have a 6 1/2 year old little lady that has been having fecal incontinence at night. It is only occurring when she is relaxed and asleep or laying for awhile. She is currently being treated for a UTI that started in March. I can’t say it started concurrently. I believe it started before the UTI. It’s always just small turds kinda like Hershey kisses lol. She already sees an internal medicine specialist for chronic kidney disease so while we were there, she had a Neuro consult because her hind left limb has an intermittent propriocetive deficit. In their report, they only mention that the deficit was not related to urinary incontinence. She does have urinary incontinence, but is currently on one tablet a day and she has been stable with that dosage.
Im unsure if I should be reaching out to Neuro and asking for further diagnostics or if this is a behavioral thing? She doesn’t exhibit any other neurological related issues besides that leg so I’m not sure what they can do and same about my primary vet. I’m not sure what they can do except ship me to a specialist.
My biggest concern with her incontinence is one it’s a nuisance, lol but most importantly is I fear it might be what’s causing the UTI because the culture comes back as E. coli every time and it’s becoming resistant to some of the common antibiotics used to treat this issue.
If anyone has had a pup with fecal incontinence and has found ways or is a doctor that has dealt with fecal incontinence please help me in anyway you can. Thank you in advance!
