First katana

Let me know how I did on my first katana/custom from Hanbon Forge

Steel Type: 1060 Carbon Steel

Blade Length (Nagasa): 28" (70-71 cm)

Cutting Edge (Ha): Sharp with Niku

Blade Shape (Zukuri): Shinogi-Zukuri

Groove/Fuller (Bohi): Single Bohi

Tip Point Line (Yokote): With Yokote

Temper Line (Hamon): Midare (Etched)

Blade Polish: Normal Polishing

Blade Tang Inscription (Mei): Without Mei

Handle Length: 11" (28 cm)

Ito - C205 – Japanese silk Gold

Wrapping Style (Tsuka-Maki) : Hineri-Maki

Rayskin (Samegawa) : Black

Rayskin Wrap Style: Panel (One-Side)

Tsuba Set - BT18

Blade Collar & Spacer (Habaki & Seppa): HS01

Handle Ornament (Menuki): M101

Saya - S113

Sageo - G01 Black

Sword Bag: B05

Sword Stand: Without Stand

Upgrades: No Upgrades

I went with gold and black because I really liked the cracked saya design. I was lowkey disappointed when I saw the saya I got because the cracks were smaller than other peoples that ordered the same saya. I also noticed the saya was kind of rattly probably to be expected from production katanas.

Im not very knowledgeable on swords so Im just going to list my pros and cons.

Pros-

I really liked the color of the ito wrap

its also wrapped very tightly it feels solid

The fittings look pretty cool

I like the look of the etched hamon

Cons-

Im still kinda iffy about the saya probably should’ve went with black

ITS SO HEAVY (I don't know if its because of the niku but the tip feels heavy)

If I were to order again I would definitely go with no niku and a simpler color theme.
