I've caught what I think is a rat snake in a Home Depot bucket. He's been slithering around my property, scaring my dog, so he needs to be evicted. I don't want to hurt him, so what is the best choice to get him somewhere away from my house that he'll be happy?

UPDATE: I dropped him off by a lake next to a forested area on the other side of the semi-abandoned farm property that I think he came from. Not quite a half mile from where I found him, but hopefully he'll be happy there and not feel the need to come back to my house. Thanks to everyone for the advice!
