Backend Engineer (3.5 YOE); what kind of opportunities should I target next?
Hey everyone,
Most of my work has been around backend systems and large-scale consumer applications in the retail space.
Some areas I’ve worked on:
* Improving performance and scalability of high-traffic backend services
* Building distributed systems and automating internal workflows
* Working on ranking/recommendation flows and data processing workflows
* Production debugging, observability improvements, API integrations, and system reliability
* Backend development in fast-moving product environments with a focus on scale and performance
Tech stack:
Go, Python, SQL, Kafka, gRPC, Elasticsearch, REST APIs, distributed systems.
Background:
* Engineering graduate from a Tier-1 college
* Experience across consumer-tech and product-focused companies
* Currently brushing up DSA/system design and actively interviewing.
What kind of opportunities would be best for my career at this stage?
