Hey, so I recently upgraded my GPU from GTX 1070 to RTX 5070, was a great upgrade. I mainly play Resident Evil games in VR (with praydog's VR mod) on my Quest 2. I'm currently playing RE4 Remake, and it seems to be the worst game in terms of performance in VR.

  • What VR system(s) would you like to use?
    • Quest 2
  • What games/apps would you like to run?
    • All Resident Evil games (mainly remakes of 2,3,4 and 7,8,9)
  • What are your computer's specifications?
    • Desktop
    • CPU (processor) - i7 10700k
    • GPU (graphics card) - RTX 5070
    • RAM/memory (Amount of GB & speed) - Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB 3200Mhz
    • [Optional] SSDs if you have any - Yes, I have 2 SSDs
  • If you have yet to build a PC or want to upgrade your existing one, what is your budget?
    • I'd like to [possibly] upgrade my CPU. No specific budget.

I attempted so many tweaks to make it look good and smooth, but the best I could come up with, is okay (6/10) visuals with max 40 fps, which is really not fun.

After some discussion with Gemini, it suggested that my CPU is currently being a big bottleneck. The CPU is i7-10700k, and I'm using Virtual Desktop with HEVC 10-bit 150mbps bitrate (also tried h.264+ with 400mbps, was worse actually).

According to the VD stats window midgame, the game latency (not the connection latency) is 30-40ms, and along with some CPU cores usage monitoring, Gemini suggested to upgrade the CPU.

Is this really the case here or am I missing something? and if so, which CPU should I go for? (I'm aware I'll most likely need to upgrade my motherboard and RAM).

Thanks in advance!
