Hi all — I’m an indie filmmaker looking to hire an animator to create a 1-minute animated opening sequence for my upcoming short film Sugar & Dope, premiering this September.
Direction:
We’re looking for something bold and stylized, inspired by the energy of Cowboy Bebop’s opening fused with the experimental, surreal style of Umami’s “Interface” YouTube series. Strong sense of motion, rhythm, and visual identity is key.
Scope of Work:
60-second animated opening sequence
Collaboration on visual style (references, mood boards, and credits list provided)
Incorporation of film title + opening credits
Animation synced to an original song we’ve created for the film
Final delivery in 4K resolution suitable for film festival screening
Budget:
$2,000–$5,000 (negotiable depending on experience and scope)
Timeline:
Start: ASAP (May/June)
First draft / animatic: July
Final delivery: August 2026
Ideal Candidate:
Exp w/stylized or experimental animation
Strong sense of timing and motion design (syncing to music is key)
Able to work collaboratively
