New litter box suggestions?

Hey everyone!

I have 5 cats and recently took in a 3 month old (now 4 almost 5 month at the end of May) female kitten from a friend who cannot take care of her due to financial issues. She has been to the vet for stool issues and is doing better.

Everything has been going pretty well, however, I had recently noticed that she won't really use my older cats' litter boxes and if there is any 'litter' on the floor outside their box, she will actually just do her business on the floor....next to the box. Just today she pooped next to their box on the floor. She is not spayed yet but will be this summer.

My 5 older cats have used the Tidy Cats breeze system for years. It's hard pellet litter with a tray underneath with a pad that catches the urine and the pellets dry out and harden the fecal matter. Pretty easy system and I save a lot of money on litter esp. with 6 cats.

Thing is, the kitten HAS used their boxes before, so why she is behaving this way now I really don't know. She has her own box in the bathroom (with regular litter in it) because she eats a special food and needs to eat by herself - has water too, of course. She uses HER box with no issues - except the floors HAVE to be clean of litter or else she will sometimes go on the floor if there is litter....

So I am thinking now I need to revive my litter box system that will suit all 6 cats because I don't want to have to deal with different litter, etc. I want to try and find a system that all the cats will use. I'm thinking maybe the kitten isn't fond of the way the pellets feel?

I am open to any and all suggestions and especially appreciate whatever is cost effective, too. Like I said, the Tidy Cats Breeze system is nice and cost effective, however, if the kitten doesn't like it, I cannot have her do her business wherever she pleases instead. I guess I will have to find something that has a softer texture. Help!
