Pink Slips Memorial Game - Painted several boxed sets

My LGS owner passed away recently. He was an avid Battletech fan, starting from the Battledroid days. I met him in Spring of 1992 where I saw a game he was running at a local college convention. I fell in love with the game, miniature painting, and the rest of the things.

One of his signature games he ran was his "Pink Slip" games. The buy-in got you a random mech from his extensive collection. They were sometimes painted, sometimes not. You could walk off the field at any time, keeping your mech. The loop of the game was that you also kept any kills you managed to score on the tabletop. If you got your mech shot out from under you, you were not out of the game. You got what amounted to a 10w/15r medium laser with an armor profile that would basically core you if struck with a medium laser. The games were very popular, well attended and much loved by our local community as well as the conventions he ran his game.

He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in April. A couple of us decided to throw (at least) one more of his games at his LGS. If you played Battletech at a convention in the Mid-Atlantic region, from the early 90's right before lockdown, you probably ran into him, or shopped with him.

We collected about 30 models to paint up in a simple paint scheme depicting Kurita regulars and our LGSs Merc company. Individually, these are nothing special, but when you get 28 models completely done in a week, they're not too awful to look at.

We all miss him, but we're going to continue to evangelize the game and keep it running, as long as there's a mech left somewhere on the field.

Finished my 3rd Edition Shambling Undead team very recently for our local LGS league. One more of my Gary Morley teams are done. Didn't have too much trouble with the Mummies, Wights, Zombies or Skellies, but the Ghouls, I just got painter's block. Forced myself to go forward with some inspiration from WFB 4th edition army books. I'm overall pleased with how they came out.

I present, the "Sylvanian 6-5000s" ready for the pitch.
